Embarked on a lunchtime adventure to Nottingham’s St James car park a recommendation of a breathtaking vista of the city’s iconic castle, and boy, did it deliver! With the car park perched at the perfect height, twinned with the Nottingham Castle! I could practically touch the clouds and see for miles around. Not only did Nottingham’s bustling market square greet us from afar, but also a plethora of key sights that make this city’s urban sprawl beneath so interesting from here. Maid Marian Way, The Salutation Inn, The Former British Waterways building on the canal, the Nottingham Train Station, Greens Hill, Wilford Hill and more.

But hold on tight, because this hidden gem of a viewpoint came with its own set of quirky challenges. Dodging sleeping migrants in the stairwell, tiptoeing over piss-soaked steps (quite the feat of acrobatics, if I say so myself), wrestling with broken elevators, and let’s not forget the relentless fire alarm serenade—it was an adventure worthy of its own reality TV show!

Despite the comedic obstacles, reaching the summit was worth every hilarious and heartrate-increasing moment. And did I mention it? I captured the events in a short video vlog that’s sure to keep you entertained. So, for an unforgettable lunchtime escapade filled with unexpected twists and stunning views, St James carpark is your go-to destination. Just remember to pack maybe a pair of wellies!

There is an alternative take, a different music choice for the march up the stairs. The music track made famous by the 1984 Ghostbusters as the team make their way up the stairs at Spook central. Which is quite evident in the rhythm and beats of the music.
