A major town in the Nottinghamshire is Mansfield. Where the Quakers began and industry boomed. The Manor House, of Mansfield Woodhouse is believed to be haunted. A Grade II listed building and stands on Priory Road with a history dated to the 1500s.

Around 1929, Betty Cartwright-Taylor, who lived there aged 17 at the time shared a chilling encounter. One morning, she awoke to find her sister already downstairs. As she lay in bed, perhaps admiring the room and comfort of cosy bedsheets. A woman with long, distinct flaming red hair appeared beside her bed. Stunned at the sight, her reaction was to ask straight and directly to the stranger in her midst.

“What do you want?!”

The woman vanished, simply vanished. Betty in contemplation, held her composure, took a deep breath fearing her family would mock her was to keep quiet on the matter.

Years later, Betty heard one of the previous residents the Need sisters who resided at the Hall until 1911, made mention that the Manor had a ghost within the walls. Betty’s ears pricked with attention. The description of the apparition given by the Need sisters was one she was familiar with, a lady with flaming red hair.

Another eerie incident occurred when a butler, left alone in the house one Sunday whilst the family attended the local church, was taken aback when preparing a buffet in the dining room, an unfamiliar visitor passed through the hall. He gave a quick pace to follow the character, to ascertain the nature of their presence, the description of the person included a striking detail, a lady with flaming red hair.
